Who Should Attend: All managers and staff who are involved in obtaining or processing background checks on prospective employees. *Please note; This session is mandatory for any NYSID Member or Corporate Partner holding a Preferred Source Contract containing a provision which requires the conducting of background checks.

Session Objective: The use of information obtained in background checks may be illegal and seen as discriminatory. As an employer, you need to understand all of the ramifications to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Learn about the different types of background checks, what information is sought and how that information is obtained for each one. You will delve into various court cases involving background checks as well as the applicable laws and other practical considerations when conducting background checks.

Paul Keneally Partner, Underberg & Kessler LLP

Paul F. Keneally, partner at Underberg & Kessler LLP, is chair of the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment Practice Groups, and a partner in its Municipal Practice Group.
