NDEAM raised awareness about disability employment issues and celebrated the diverse individuals with disabilities who contribute to New York’s workforce. The theme for 2014 — “Expect. Employ. Empower.” — conveyed that advancing disability employment is about much more than just hiring; it’s about creating a continuum of inclusion, and the first step on this continuum is expectation.

“NYSID celebrates the efforts of our member agencies and corporate partners to help create employment opportunities for New Yorkers with disabilities,” said Ron Romano, president & CEO. “Our 11th Annual Joslin Awards Program provides incredible examples of how much New York State benefits by having a workforce that is inclusive of persons with disabilities.”

A total of 59 Outstanding Performers were nominated by NYSID member agencies and private sector corporate partners in 2014. The final William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award recipients were Edwardo Lopez (AHRC New York City) and Brent Matthew Lillard (The Nicholas Center/Spectrum Designs Foundation). The awards were presented at NYSID’s Annual Meeting on September 8.
