High Praise from Legislators for NYSID’s 40th Anniversary

Category: General — NYSID @ 7:51 pm

Numerous New York State and county legislators are sending their congratulatory wishes as NYSID continues its 40th anniversary celebration. Here are some of the complimentary words we’ve received:

(Pictured l-r: Elizabeth Gaynes, The Osborne Association’s executive director; Jim Ring, NYSID’s account representative; Nelson Torres, Osborne’s director of Janitorial and Maintenance Services; Antonio Gonzalez and his son; and Carolina Cordero-Dyer, Osborne’s associate executive director and CFO. Osborne is located within NYS Senator Ruben Diaz' district.)

NYS Senator Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx): “During the past 40 years, NYSID has been a tremendous blessing to New York by creating meaningful employment opportunities for women and men with disabilities. The skills and encouragement NYSID’s member agencies and corporate partners continue to provide here in Bronx County demonstrate a real concern for our neighbors with disabilities and their families. I am especially grateful to The Osborne Association for its partnership with NYSID and its job creation efforts that continue to benefit Bronx residents.”

NYS Senator Betty Little (R/C/I-Queensbury): “Having a job provides a purpose, giving people a reason to get up and get going and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. It has been my pleasure to support the work of NYSID and I congratulate them on 40 years of helping New Yorkers with disabilities find employment. Each and every day, they make a difference in the lives of people who need and deserve assistance. This wonderful partnership changes lives for the better and strengthens our communities.”

NYS Senator Thomas O’Mara (R/C/I-Big Flats): “Congratulations to everyone at New York State Industries for the Disabled as you celebrate your 40th Anniversary in 2015. Most importantly, on behalf of my entire 58th Senate District throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions, thank you for your incredible commitment to creating meaningful jobs for our local citizens with disabilities. Your efforts, and their hard work, continue to make admirable and important contributions to the quality and success of so many of our communities and employers.”

NYS Senator Cathy Young (R/I/C-Olean): “For 15 years, prior to becoming a state legislator, I had the privilege of working for The ReHabilitation Center in Cattaraugus County, a NYSID member agency. During my time there, I witnessed compassion every day, in ways great and small. It is an experience that I hold close to my heart, and it serves as an important reminder of the vital work that is conducted every day by New Yorkers with disabilities throughout our communities. People with disabilities want what everyone wants –– the opportunity to work and earn a paycheck. NYSID and its member agencies in my NYS Senate District have been truly instrumental in helping our local residents with disabilities fulfill their desire to work and be productive members of society. Congratulations to NYSID and its members on a successful 40 years.”

NYS Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D/WFP-Binghamton): “I’d like to congratulate NYSID on its 40th anniversary. The work done by NYSID has tremendous positive effects in Broome County. In the last year, nearly 500 people have found employment through NYSID’s efforts, helping these individuals grow their economic and social independence. I look forward to working with NYSID to continue this great work in our community.”

Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy, NYSID Veterans’ Summit participant: “I want to congratulate NYSID for four decades of service in New York State. Over the years, NYSID has had a positive impact in the community. I am especially pleased that the organization works closely with veterans in Albany County to help them transition back into society. This has proven to be a valuable service to veterans and their families.”

Over the next several months, NYSID will continue recognizing our member agencies and corporate partners, county by county, to demonstrate your human service support and economic impact within communities statewide.

Keep an eye out for your organization on our social media and blog, as we highlight NYSID Preferred Source job creation across New York State –– and thanks for helping us celebrate “40 Years of Looking Forward.” We couldn’t have done it without YOU!
