Carlstrom & Ritter has provided landscaping jobs for Preferred Source workers through its NYSID Associate Member status over the past eight years. These workers learn the meticulous skills of customer satisfaction under the skilled eye of Carlstrom & Ritter, a full-service landscaping and design business located in Kings Point, Long Island.

Through this partnership of opportunity, individuals with disabilities work alongside non-disabled employees at Stony Brook University through every kind of weather, from spring cleaning through the worst Long Island winters. The team also includes several New York State veterans.

Andrew Rosenbluth loves his job on the Carlstrom & Ritter Preferred Source landscaping crew, where he works at Stony Brook University year round through all kinds of weather. Prior to becoming a landscaper, he worked minimum wage retail jobs and was also unemployed at times.

Today, Andrew supports his family with a full-time paycheck and benefits, and is proud to be a role model for his work ethic and independence while doing rewarding work for an important NYSID customer. Through this valued partnership, individuals with disabilities like Andrew work with other Carlstrom & Ritter employees as a team and as friends.

During its Annual Meeting, NYSID recognized individuals employed on Preferred Source contracts, not-for-profits, small businesses, New York State agencies and school districts for their work to create jobs for New Yorkers with disabilities.
