NYS Senator James Seward: NYSID Member Agencies Change Lives

Category: General — NYSID @ 3:59 pm

NYS Senator James Seward (R,C,I-Oneonta), co-recipient of NYSID’s Preferred Source Champion Award, has commended NYSID and its member agencies for job creation for New Yorkers with disabilities.

"NYSID Preferred Source contracts provide great opportunities throughout the state, and have, without a doubt, changed many lives." -- NYS Senator James Seward

“I would like to commend NYSID for the great job it is doing in providing employment for New York residents with disabilities,” Senator Seward wrote in a letter to Ron Romano, NYSID president & CEO, after receiving his copy of NYSID’s 2015 Annual Report. “NYSID Preferred Source contracts provide great opportunities throughout the state, and have, without a doubt, changed many lives. Keep up the good work!”

Senator Seward was named NYSID’s 2014 Preferred Source Champion Award co-recipient, along with Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY), for their ongoing support for New Yorkers with disabilities.

In 2015, NYSID Preferred Source contracts employed 7,052 New Yorkers with disabilities from our member agencies, providing $59.7 million in wages to individuals who worked 4.27 million employment hours.

NYSID’s 2015 Annual Report highlights these hard-working individuals and the jobs they performed.

These employment opportunities have evolved over time into life-changing experiences and financial security for New Yorkers, energizing communities and supporting government procurement needs.

Through Preferred Source contracts, NYSID and its member agencies provide the hope that, through training and opportunity, New Yorkers with disabilities can succeed in their employment goals.

NYSID acknowledges our member agencies, Senator Seward and his fellow members of the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly for creating meaningful employment for New Yorkers with disabilities and improving countless lives with the integrity that comes with being employed.

We look forward to continued collaboration and job creation in 2016.
