Spectrum Designs Wears Autism Awareness On Its Sleeve

Category: General — NYSID @ 3:19 pm

April is National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM16), World Autism Awareness Day is April 2 — and both represent excellent opportunities to create autism awareness and acceptance within New York’s workforce and communities.

One great example is Spectrum Designs Foundation, an apparel customization shop that provides meaningful work opportunities to individuals with autism.

Recently, Spectrum Designs was selected to design, print and ship 56,000 Autism Speaks Walk 2016 T-shirts. Autism Speaks is the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, and the Autism Speaks Walk contract is the largest job ever undertaken by Spectrum Designs.

Each Walk T-shirt includes a special tag about Spectrum Designs, providing the not-for-profit social enterprise with visibility across the nearly 60 Autism Speaks Walk locations around the country.

“We are thrilled to be selected as the official T-shirt vendor for Autism Speaks Walk 2016,” said Patrick Bardsley, Spectrum Designs president. “It is a testament to the fact that social enterprises can compete on a national scale, and this puts Spectrum Designs firmly on the map.”
