Next Veterans’ Summit is May 17

Category: General — NYSID @ 6:40 pm

NYSID will host its next quarterly Veterans’ Summit on Thursday, May 17 from 9:30am – noon at its office at 11 Columbia Circle Drive, Albany.

“NYSID’s intent for the Veterans’ Summit Meeting since its inception in 2009 is to provide a quarterly in-person clearing house for individuals and organizations supporting veterans with disabilities in New York State,” said Andy Grosso, NYSID’s vice president of business development. “The value of the information exchange is to foster collaboration and networking as we advance the cause of identifying jobs for veterans with disabilities, particularly as the number of returning veterans with disabilities increases.”

Presenting organizations at the Veterans’ Summit include: Soldier On, which provides safe, affordable housing and services to homeless veterans; Fedcap, which has pioneered job training and employment programs for veterans and others facing barriers to employment for more than 77 years; Summit Security Services, which is one of the New York region’s leading providers of reliable security services with 2,500 employees; and Jericho Project, which houses young veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and prevents them from cycling into homelessness and chronic unemployment.

The following write-up and photos from the most recent Veterans’ Summit in February appeared in the Times Union.

Summit participants represent an array of organizations, including state government agencies, not-for-profits, veteran service organizations, Wounded Warriors, rehabilitation organizations, including NYSID members, and representatives from the Office of Governor Cuomo.
