NYSID Internship Program Overview

Category: General — NYSID @ 5:54 pm

About NYSID

NYSID is a not-for-profit member organization that represents approximately 150 community rehabilitation agencies and their corporate partners who collectively employ more than 6,000 skilled people with disabilities throughout New York State. NYSID procures contracts for more than 300 products and services with New York State and local government agencies on behalf of the individuals the rehabilitative agencies serve. NYSID directly employs about 60 people, most of whom work out of the main office in Albany.

About Our Internships

NYSID offers internships in Marketing and Business Development. The Marketing internships are open to undergraduate Juniors and Seniors. Marketing majors are ideal, but any business, communications or liberal arts major is eligible. Any candidate working toward a Masters degree in business or a related field is eligible for an internship in Business Development. All internships are based in Albany, NY.

Time Period

All internships require a commitment of between 8-16 hours per week for a period of approximately three months. The internships run during the school semesters and during the summer.

Compensation

All internships are compensated either directly or with academic credit.

Benefits to Interns

NYSID interns will learn generally how either a Marketing and/or Business Development Department operates and how those departments relate to the overall function of a not-for-profit organization. The specific duties of a particular internship could include conducting market research, learning marketing strategies, helping to develop marketing campaigns, data collection and exploring capabilities for new products or services, among others. All internships involve meaningful assignments with clearly defined duties and back-up tasks. All interns are closely supervised by a member of NYSID’s Executive Team or by a Manager, whose objective is to serve as a mentor for the intern. All interns complete and receive a mid-semester and final evaluation.
