Bette Legory performs at double the required capacity of images per hour, making her one of the quickest and most accurate Preferred Source workers for ACHIEVE on a collaboration between Xerox State & Local Solutions, Inc. and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB).
When the Xerox processing center began hiring ACHIEVE workers with disabilities, Bette was placed into her first new job in many years – one requiring a brand new skill set. She is proud of her contributions to the data processing operation.
“The quality of what I do is important because it affects another person’s life,” she says. “This is the first job I’ve had that actually means something.”
NYSID honored Bette as 2016 Employee of the Year and Xerox as 2016 Corporate Partner of the Year during our Annual Meeting.
In celebrating National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, NYSID honors Bette and thousands of individuals with disabilities across New York State who push past significant challenges to reach their potential in workplaces, schools and communities.
In 2016, NYSID Preferred Source contracts accounted for 1,140 jobs created in Central New York.
