NYSID Earns Perfect Score from NYCHA for High-Quality Service

Category: General — NYSID @ 2:07 pm

New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID) received an overall perfect score of 10.00 on its Vendor Scorecard from the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). The perfect score for the first quarter of 2013 indicates that 100 percent of NYCHA’s orders through NYSID were delivered on time, complete and contained no quality problems.

“NYSID continually strives to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations, and we are extremely proud to receive a perfect rating for our reliability as a supply chain partner with NYCHA,” said Ron Romano, president and CEO of NYSID. “In addition, the delivery of products to NYCHA provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities — some of whom reside in New York City public housing — thus creating a win-win for both NYSID and NYCHA.”

NYSID was one of only 44 vendors out of 127 to receive a perfect score on this Vendor Scorecard.

NYSID’s business with NYCHA provides more than 10,000 hours of employment for people with disabilities annually. A total of 100 individuals with disabilities work on these contracts in some capacity, providing job opportunities at four NYSID member agencies: Community, Work & Independence, Inc. in Glens Falls; Liberty Enterprises aka Montgomery County ARC, Inc. in Amsterdam; Schoharie County Chapter NYSARC, Inc. in Schoharie; and Lifespire in Manhattan.

NYCHA purchases the following items from NYSID: uniforms/jackets, trousers, shirts, caps, micro bio-wash, bathroom tissue, floor maintenance pads, “green” cleaning products and engine degreaser.

A key purchaser of NYSID products for more than 20 years, NYCHA makes it a priority to collaborate with its vendors on the products needed to meet an important mission of service to metropolitan residents. Company performance is scored from zero to 10 in three major categories, with weighting factors reflecting their relative importance to NYCHA.

In order to facilitate the ongoing NYCHA-vendor relationship, NYCHA has provided a quarterly Vendor Scorecard ranking performance measures, from quality to delivery, since 2005. NYSID has received perfect or highly acceptable scores from NYCHA on a consistent basis.

NYCHA is committed to increasing opportunities for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers by providing safe, affordable housing and facilitating access to social and community services. More than 400,000 New Yorkers reside in NYCHA’s 334 public housing developments around the five boroughs, and another 235,000 receive subsidized rental assistance in private homes through the NYCHA-administered Section 8 Leased Housing Program.
