Annual Meeting 2013 Was an Evening of Empowerment and Impact

Category: General — NYSID @ 1:13 pm

NYSID is proud to acknowledge that 6,941 New Yorkers with disabilities worked on Preferred Source contracts in 2013. What’s more, those individuals earned $55 million, highest-ever total NYSID wages.

We recognized these significant contributions to New York’s fiscal health at our Annual Meeting on September 16 at The Saratoga Hilton in Saratoga Springs, as we highlighted singular achievements by individuals working on NYSID contracts. More than 200 people attended the Annual Meeting; the theme was “Empowering New Yorkers, Supporting New York.”

Ron Romano, president & CEO, and Robert Schwartz, chairman of NYSID’s board of directors, presented awards to several individuals employed on Preferred Source contracts, not-for-profits, small businesses, state universities and local governments for their work to create jobs for New Yorkers with disabilities.

They were joined by RoAnn Destito, commissioner of the New York State Office of General Services, and Patrice Joslin, wife of Bill Joslin, for whom the William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award is named.

In addition, Tim Forbes, past commandant of the Marine Corps League Department of New York presented a plaque to NYSID and its members for their relief efforts in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

NYSID contributed funds on behalf of its members to the Marine Corps League Foundation toward the purchase of supplies for the victims of Sandy and coordinated the transport of supplies to Staten Island.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in recognizing the importance of a diverse New York workforce which includes Preferred Source workers at NYSID member agencies!
