Edwardo Lopez, a porter with AHRC New York City, also was a co-recipient.

A standing-room only crowd of nearly 250 people attended the September 8 event; the Annual Meeting theme was “40 Years of Looking Forward,” in celebration of the 40th anniversary of NYSID’s founding.

Brent is a talented young man who struggles with the challenges presented by Asperger’s syndrome. He was hired as a graphic artist by Spectrum, which has provided numerous Preferred Source customers with custom printed apparel.

Among other job duties, Brent has worked meticulously to redraw the Town of Oyster Bay’s logo to assure the graphics were perfect. He did such a great job that the Town of Mamaroneck’s logo was also assigned to Brent for reformatting. In addition to graphics, Brent has learned the entire process of printing a garment, and how to operate new machines for silk-screening and embroidery via online tutorials.
