Problem: Individuals have to manually move shredded paper across the warehouse while not interfering with the current storage arrangments on the ground and maintaining a safe work environment.
Proposed Solution: Design an efficient air system to draw suction on the shredded paper and transport it across the warehouse into a paper baler. This will be out of the way and individuals will be able to produce bails of paper in hours as opposed to days.
Project: Production Maximization
Project Production Maximization was partnered with YAI-The Corporate Source/ Broadview Networks.
Problem: The current assembly of telecommunication units is lacking is productivity due to issues with the distance of supplies from work station, waste removal, box assembly time, storage of materials and number of production steps.
Proposed Solution: Design multiple prototypes that will increase productivity while maintaining ease of use and worker safety. The team is looking at several solutions, including a conveyor belt and an overall redesign of the work space and material storage.
Problem: The current method of conformal circuit board coating causes problems with uneven and excess coating for a homing beacon device used by military personnel. Individuals have to scrape off excess coating and re-coat in some cases.
Proposed Solution: Increase the speed of production and eliminate the extra work caused by the current problem by designing a new rack system for the circuits and implementing an improved conformal coating process.
