Stop the Bleed Training Comes to NYSID
Uncontrolled bleeding is the #1 cause of preventable death from trauma.
NYSID sponsored two life-saving “Stop The Bleed” (STB) trainings on July 27 for our customers, membership, employees, and the Albany area community.
STB certification training gave each participant basic bleeding control skills until paramedics arrive, including how to apply a tourniquet and how to pack a wound.
Fifty individuals attended the hands-on demonstrations led by a certified trainer from Arc Herkimer where the kits are packaged by workers with disabilities. We welcomed individuals from the Arc of Rensselaer, Second Chance Opportunities, Janitronics, NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, NYS Department of Information Technology Services, NYS Department of Corrections & Community Supervision, NYS Parks & Recreation, and National Grid.
Lisa Price heard about NYSID’s event on the morning news. An employee of National Grid, Lisa renewed her CPR certification this week in advance of National Grid’s “Safety Leadership Day” on June 27. “I thought learning how to be effective in an uncontrolled bleeding emergency would add more to my safety skills,” she said.
